Maximo Adams, a North Carolina signee, had five 3-point field goals and a game-high 26 points to lift top-seeded Sierra Canyon to a 63-57 boys basketball victory against No. 2 Harvard-Westlake in the CIF Southern California Regional final of the Open Division state playoffs in Chatsworth.

Brannon Martinsen added 11 points and Brandon McCoy contributed 10 points for the Trailblazers, who won their fourth Open Division regional crown in program history, including their first title since 2020.

Sierra Canyon swept all three meetings this season against Harvard-Westlake, including a 59-53 triumph Feb. 28 in the CIF-Southern Section Open Division final at the Toyota Arena in Ontario.

The Trailblazers improved to 6-3 all-time in regional finals and will be seeking a fifth overall state championship, including their third in the Open Division, when they compete March 14 against Salesian College Prep of Richmond at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.

Sierra Canyon captured the Division 1 state crown last year.

Joe Sterling led Harvard-Westlake, which was seeking a third trip to the Open Division state final in the past four seasons, with 19 points.

The Wolverines lost for the first time in an Open Division regional final and fell to 6-4 in regional championship games in program history.

David Rebibo, in his 11th season as Harvard-Westlake coach, suffered three losses against the same opponent for only the second time during his tenure with the Wolverines, following Sherman Oaks Notre Dame in 2016.
