For the first time since 2019, Mater Dei is scheduled to compete Friday in the Platinum Division of the West Coast Jamboree, one of the largest annual girls basketball tournaments in the country.

The event, which began in 2000, features 104 teams competing in 13 brackets, with semifinal matchups taking place Saturday and the tournament concluding Monday.

Mater Dei (12-2) already captured the title in November at the I MUA Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii, and finished third Dec. 21 in the Vincent Cannizzaro Division at the Nike Tournament of Champions in Mesa, Ariz.

The Monarchs prevailed in the 2019 Platinum Division by defeating Bishop O’Dowd, Archbishop Mitty and Sierra Canyon to secure the title.

Mater Dei also won the Platinum Division championship in 2013 with victories against Sacramento, Carondelet and Stockton St. Mary’s.

The Monarchs secured their first West Coast Jamboree crown in 2007 by winning the Diamond Division title.

Mater Dei, led by Kaeli Wynn, Addie Deal and Amaya Williams, squares off against Oakland Tech (6-2) at 7 p.m. PST in Friday’s Platinum Division opener at Dublin High.

Stockton St. Mary’s (6-5) is scheduled to meet Bishop Montgomery (9-2) at 5:30 p.m., with Windward (6-5) competing against Kamehameha Kapalama (12-2) at 4 p.m.

Kamehameha Kapalama suffered its only two losses this season to Bishop Montgomery and Mater Dei.

Clovis (12-1), which endured its only setback this year Dec. 14 against Oakland Tech, faces Sacramento McClatchy (7-2) in the Platinum Division opener at 2:30 p.m.

The Cougars are looking to build off the momentum of winning the Justin-Siena Christmas tournament title Dec. 21 with a 60-44 victory against Cardinal Newman.

Chaminade (4-4) squares off with Vanden (5-4) at 3:30 p.m., with Woodside Priory (7-1) looking to extend its seven-game winning streak against Perry High from Arizona (6-8) at 2 p.m.

Hanalani from Hawaii (11-4) is competing in the Amber Division, Bishop Manogue of Reno (6-3) is participating in the Emerald Division, with another Nevada program McDermitt (8-0) entered in the Pearl Division.

Punahou from Hawaii (6-7) is expected to participate in the Ruby Division, North Medford of Oregon (3-3) is scheduled to compete in the Quartz Division, with Pyramid Lake from Nevada (8-3) in the Sapphire Division.
