Diablo Valley Volleyball Club was founded to provide junior boys and girls the opportunity to improve their volleyball knowledge and skills. It is our goal that each player will find the Diablo season rewarding, educational, and fun! The majority of our players have shown incredible dedication to the sport as well as to Diablo VBC – the players are wonderful and the teams are competitive every year!! We hope to have you join us!

Individual Skills Camps - we place athletes into groups arranged by age and skill (sometimes boys/girls are placed together). We want everyone to get the most out of the clinic and will do our best to help each player improve and have fun.
Skills include: Serving, defense, forearm and overhead passing, setting, hitting approach, blocking footwork, running plays for offense and lots of fun games & prizes!!!

Team Drills Camps: 5th year we are including this in our clinics. With these team sessions we ask that players know the basic skills (especially forearm/overhead passing, hitting approach & serve) because we will focus on a certain skill for about one hour each day then the next two hours will be spent in more team-oriented drills and instruction. Teams can request to be placed in groups together — ideally send in your registration together to ensure placement (max 8-10 players) and/or individuals can sign up and we we'll place you into an appropriate skill level group/team.

For any questions please contact us at either [email protected] or 925 451-6581
NO DAY OF WALK UP REGISTRATION AVAILABLE – PLEASE SEND IN REGISTRATION FORM AT YOUR CONVENIENCE TO: DIABLO VBC - PO BOX 69 - CONCORD, CA 94522

Volleyball has been part of my life since I began playing at Clayton Valley 30+ years ago and even before then when I was a ball shagger for my older sister Janet’s teams. I have to give it up to Janet who really got me hooked into coaching full time right when I finished playing in college.

Coaching experience kind of in chronologically order…

Varsity boys assistant coach Pittsburg High School – 1 year
Redwood Volleyball Club Humboldt – 1 year
Clayton Valley head varsity volleyball both boys and girls. Also, head coach for jv girls basketball. – 4 years
Acalanes jv coach boys and girls – 4 years
De la salle jv coach – 4 years
College Park jv girls – 1 year
Heritage High freshman & jv girls – 2 years
San Ramon JV boys – 5 years
I have coached every level at Diablo from age 8-18 boys and girls. I am so grateful to be a part of a excellent organization like Diablo and give thanks each day for this opportunity.

Playing experience –
4 years varsity at Clayton Valley
2 years at Diablo Valley College
2 years at Humboldt State
Team captain and MVP 7 years (All but my freshman year in high school.)
I have been lucky enough to have earned many all league and all tournament recognitions in HS and college.

In 1997 I was inducted into the Humboldt State Hall of Fame

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my profile. Just want to say how much I appreciate Sean, my kids and my own immediate family but also the extended Diablo family that has been created these past 20+ years.

My main goals for the players that I coach is that they improve in the game of volleyball, build confidence and gain a strong skill of communication CAP I – Certified I have been involved in coaching sports since I was 14 years old when I was helping my dad coach my older sister’s softball team. I have always had the passion to be a coach and share my experience with others. I have been coaching volleyball for almost 25 years. I have coached all levels and I have coached players from 8 to 60 years old. I have had lots of successes in coaching and not all have come from winning a game. Just the idea that players finally get what I am asking me to do is the greatest gift I can receive. The player will look over towards me with a big smile, and we both know what has just happened. I have my degree in Physical Education from California State University Long Beach. I took many things that I learned from my degree and incorporate into my coaching. I have always liked this quote that I share with all my teams.”There is no limit to what can be accomplished if it doesn’t matter who gets the credit” Most recent Coaching Highlights: (All of the successes below came from dedicated athletes and the support of their parents. I thank all of you for these great years) See our site for Coach Stratton's career Accomplishments
