MESA, Ariz. Alec Blair, an Oklahoma commit, had 21 points and Concord De La Salle held off a late rally by Duncanville High of Texas to remain unbeaten with a 65-62 victory Thursday in the opening round of the Hoophall West Bracket at the Nike Tournament of Champions presented by Hoophall West at Highland High.

Kayden Edwards, who led Duncanville (9-5) with 17 points, had a potential tying 3-pointer from the left wing carom off the front rim as time expired, as the Panthers nearly rallied from a nine-point, third-quarter deficit.

The Spartans (13-0) are scheduled to face Chaminade College Prep from Missouri (6-2) – a 58-40 winner Thursday against Christ the King from New York (4-4) – at 7:30 p.m. MST Friday in the semifinals at Highland High.

David Balogun added 18 points and eight rebounds, with Ibrahim Monawar contributing 13 points and four assists for Concord De La Salle, which stretched a four-point halftime lead into a 51-44 advantage entering the fourth.

Christopher Hunt, Jr. scored 15 points and Beckham Black had 14 points for Duncanville, which never led in the second half.

Harvard-Westlake 57, Perry 54: Despite not making a field goal in the final four minutes, the Wolverines (16-1) held on for the victory in their Hoophall West Bracket opener and knocked Perry from the ranks of the unbeaten at Highland High.

Nikolas Khamenia, a Duke commit, led Harvard-Westlake with 18 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

The Wolverines are expected to square off against Gonzaga College Prep from Washington D.C. (16-1) – a 69-53 winner against Sunnyslope High of Arizona – at 9 p.m. MST Friday in the semifinals.

Joe Sterling and Isaiah Carroll both contributed nine points apiece for Harvard-Westlake, which trailed 33-32 at halftime.

Amir Jones scored seven points, with Dominique Bentho and Cole Holden each scoring six points for the Wolverines, who sank four of seven free-throw attempts in the fourth quarter to preserve the win.

D’Andre Harrison led Perry (11-1) with 17 points, Koa Peat added 14 points and 12 rebounds, with Dominic Avalos contributing 11 points.

St. John Bosco 58, Sandra Day O’Connor (Arizona) 42: The Braves (16-1) rebounded in impressive fashion from their first loss of the season Monday in overtime at the Platinum Division final at The Classic at Damien by winning their opening Hoophall West round-robin contest at Highland High.

Christian Collins had 22 points and 14 rebounds for St. John Bosco, with Gavin Dean-Moss contributing 10 points.

Max Ellis and Elzie Harrington both scored eight points each for the Braves, who built a 31-18 halftime advantage, and stretched the lead to as many as 21 points in the third quarter.

Eastvale Roosevelt 77, Coronado (Nevada) 59: The Mustangs (16-1) withstood an early challenge from Coronado (4-7), before 24 third-quarter points helped them pull away in their opening Hoophall West round-robin contest at Highland High.

Myles Walker led Eastvale Roosevelt with 18 points, six assists and six steals, and Brayden Burries had 19 points, eight rebounds and four steals.

Issac Williamson contributed 14 points and five assists for the Mustangs, who have won 12 in a row.

Dominic Copenhagen scored eight points and Jackson Haggins had seven points for Eastvale Roosevelt, which forced 26 Coronado turnovers.

Layton Christian Academy (Utah) 54, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 53: In a back-and-forth contest that featured 11 ties and eight lead changes, Layton Christian Academy held on for the Hoophall West round-robin victory when Tyran Stokes’ potential winning shot from the right block missed to the left in the final seconds at Highland High.

Zach White gave the Knights (13-2) a 53-52 lead with 25 seconds left, before Layton Christian Academy (8-6) regained the advantage with 15 seconds remaining.

Notre Dame had secured a 73-60 victory Dec. 20 against Layton Christian Academy at the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas.

Stokes had 20 points and eight rebounds, with White adding 15 points and seven rebounds for the Knights.

Tyrin Jones led Layton Christian Academy with 14 points and 10 rebounds, with Alan Gballou contributing 13 points and 12 rebounds.
